Short Course Rally Championship Event 3

Short Course Event 3 in Monaro feature roads typical of the forests around Gympie. With two stages Yambulla Mountain Ascent and Descent which feature two massive jumps to entertain the watching virtual spectators. Group A machinery from the 80s and 90s was the vehicles of choice for this event.
The Lancia Delta’s of Beard and Kilbride were quick out of the blocks showing their intention to put the fight to previous event winner Hoy by beating the Mitsubishi Lancer driver on Stage 1. Unfortunately the two Lancia’s couldn’t hang on and in Stage 2 Hoy took the lead back. This stage also saw good times from Bryan Armstrong (ISUZU_BRYAN86) and R-BOBBY32 with 6th and 7th respectively.
After a quick service the cars were back out on the stages for a repeat of the first loop. Over these stages the battle between the Mitsubishi Lancers of Mike Gill, BONDY555, ENFORCER, Jason Keane (TEAMKEANE72) and Matt Sosimenko (MATTSOSI72). ENFORCER came out on top of this battle in 17th place.
Once again the stages proved difficult in this event with six drivers retiring their vehicles. Stages 5 and 6 and Hoy maintained his stage winning progress to wrap up the event. Kilbride finished 2nd even with losing a bit of time on the final stage, Opie 3rd, Hickey 4th and Beard rounded out the top 5.
Overall the championship was very well received with 46 entrants over the 3 events. The top 5 places going to Hoy, Kilbride, Hickey, Pearce and Beard.
Championship 2 has now started and the events in this championship will have similar roads and itineraries to the QRC events in Manumbar, Bonalbo, Mundubberra and Imbil. It will once again feature similar cars to those in the QRC and events will be open for 8 days.
